On the Journey

Dementia is a progressive disease, often described as a journey along a winding pathway.

Each of these stories on the journey illustrates a different stage of dementia. These stories are drawn from dozens of interviews and discussions with real people with dementia as well as their families, caregivers and health providers. You may hear echoes of your own experience in these accounts and as you move the computer mouse over the words, the web site prompts will direct you to relevant resources and information. You might want to read only one of these stories, or you may want to read them all as a way of looking at what might lie ahead. We hope that you’ll see your own reality reflected here, and that you’ll be guided to resources you need.

If you are on your own journey, or if you are supporting someone else with dementia, you need not travel alone.
